Belfast 1992
Belfast, February 1992, before the peace agreements: one month on the ground, working on black-and-white film. In a city marked by history, the reportage moves through borders and thresholds between Catholic and Protestant neighbourhoods, close to walls, streets, and weather. The people of Belfast are central: presences, faces, everyday gestures under political tension and religious belonging. I did not photograph soldiers in action; at times I lowered the camera and simply looked. Proof and presence hold together, in light, surfaces, gaps, and silences.
